Lang Biang Mountain

Lang Biang Mountain has multiple peaks. The trail that leads to Lang Biang Peak takes 2 to 4 hours in total, to hike up and down, depending on how fit you are.

There is another trail which is actually a dirt road that leads to a radar base. Most tourists take a jeep up this way to reach the top instead of walking up and down the trail.

This is a generally mild trail with some steep sections. The trail is well-worn and easy to navigate, though does get quite narrow at times.

The rocky trail starts off on flat ground near some huts, on the right-hand side of the main gate to Bidoup-Nui Ba National Park. After five minutes of walking the trail goes up toward coffee plantations. Twenty minutes into the hike you enter a pine forest. The trail here is wide and easy to follow.

As the hike progresses through the forest the terrain gets steeper, until you reach a paved road. Here you turn right and come to a hut where you are charged a fee for access to the peak.

The trail continues up into the pine forest and starts to get narrower.

As you get closer to the final stretch the vegetation changes from forest to dense jungle foliage. There is a section where there are big steps carved into the path with cement slats to hold them in place.

The last 300-700m (984 ft – 2297  ft ) gets very steep and can be quite challenging, with sections where you may need to grab onto a branch or piece of vegetation to pull you up. There may also be a fallen tree or two blocking the path along the way.

There are signs throughout telling you how far to go until you reach the top.

The same trail is used to descend.

In Da Lat, the weather is usually quite cloudy no matter what season it is, and the temperature is quite warm year-round. Temperatures range from 11°C to 27°C (52°F to  81°F) throughout the year, offering pleasant weather for the hike throughout the year, although you may want to avoid the wet months.

The warmer season is from late March to late May with the daily highs averaging 26°C (79°F) and the lows averaging 15°C (59°F). April is the hottest month.

The cooler season is from early November to late January with the daily highs averaging below 22°C (72°F) and daily lows getting as cold as 11°C (52°F). The coldest month is January.

The wet season is from about May to November, with the wettest season being September. It is not recommended to hike this trail during the wet season as it can get slippery and dangerous on the steep sections.

The drier season is from about December to April, with the driest month being February.

There is no special equipment needed for this hike, except for a good pair of hiking shoes.

There are no special rest stops or facilities on this hike. Though you will need to take a lot of water with you, it shouldn’t be too strenuous as it is a straightforward hike. Pack lunch if you want to eat at the summit or have snacks for the way up.

There is a fee to pay to do this hike, however, neither a guide nor a porter is necessary. The trail is well-worn and easy to navigate. The fee is paid when the trail gets to the point where it is specifically only leading to Lang Biang Peak.

Da Lat is the closest city to Lang Biang Mountain. It is the capital of Lâm Đồng Province in Vietnam.

There are flights to Da Lat from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.

From Da Lat to the entrance of the national park where the peak is located, it is about 12km (7.5 mi). To get to Lang Biang Mountain you can take a 30-minute taxi or a one-hour bus from Da Lat.

There are no reports of safety concerns for this Mountain. It is a popular area, and the trail is okay to do on your own.
