This is a beginner-friendly trail. It is well-worn and easy to navigate. 

The trail will take you past farmland with the rolling green hills on all sides. The path is generally mild with a a few sections of loose stones or short inclines.

The trail will lead you to a fork near the top which gives hikers the choice between the main peak on the left and an alternate peak on the right. Both summits are just a short distance from this juncture. 

Anyone who has visited Osmena Peak will tell you that the view from the summit of the main peak is spectacular. From the top, you are treated with 360° views of the surrounding pointy hill formations dotted around the peak, as well as Negros Island, Bohol Island, and a breathtaking sunrise view of Moalboal town to the east. 

On the descent, you’ll also enjoy a great view of the rest of the region.

The weather in this region is slightly cooler than that typical of the Philippines. Throughout the year average high temperatures vary from 25°C to 28°C (77°F to 46°F) and low temperatures vary from 19°C to 21°C (66°F to 70°F). The hottest months are April and May, and the coolest months are January and February.

The wet season is between June and early December and the dry season is between late December and May  

The best time to visit Osmena Peak for pleasant walking weather is between early January and late April. This period is drier than the rest of the year, cooler, less humid, and you’ll have a higher chance of a clear view from the peak. The downside to visiting in this period is that it is a popular time to visit Cebu and you may find yourself amongst the crowds.

You don’t need hiking boots for this short walk, but closed footwear or trainers would be helpful on the short muddy sections and on the stretches with loose stones. Take a light windproof jacket as it can get a little bit chilly at the summit in the early mornings and late afternoons.

Osmena Peak is located in the southern part of Cebu Island, Philippines. It is a 3-4 hour drive from Cebu City.  

To get to the starting point from Cebu City one can catch a 3-4 hour bus to Dalaguete and then hire a 20-30 minute habal-habal (motorcycle taxi) to the starting point.
